There is darkness and there is light.
Neither needs to defeat the other.
The Keeper of Balance is a 16-inch natural cowhide drum, its beautiful black and white markings left exactly as nature created them.
Turn the drum over and its deeper character is revealed.
At its centre is a hand-finished Irish gorse wood handle, retaining the natural twists, markings and character of the branch. Set into the gorse is a stone, almost like a watchful eye held within the wood.
Gorse is a tough, resilient plant of the Irish landscape  able to grow on exposed ground and bring brilliant yellow flowers to places where little else seems to thrive. For me, that makes it the perfect partner for this drum

Nothing about this drum has been made to look uniform. The markings of the cow hide and the shape of the gorse have been allowed to remain individual.
There can never be another exactly like it.
